Chapter 10 Some of the Structure of Groups

We have seen that field extensions can help us understand polynomials and their roots. One of the fundamental tools for understanding field extensions is to study Galois groups, the groups of automorphisms of splitting fields. Since there is a correspondence between Galois groups and their fields, understanding groups better will help us understand fields, and therefore polynomials.

So let's take a break from fields and polynomials and take a closer look at group theory.
